This past week I received an e-mail with a U-Tube clip that purported to translate some portions of scripture as saying that Barack Obama is the anti-Christ. I could have included the clip here, but have chosen not to because I do not want to be a purveyor of stuff I consider junk.
It didn’t take much research to discover that the producer of the clip was a Southern Baptist pastor from Florida. The clip tried to make a play on Hebrew translations of words from Isaiah and Jesus that sound a lot like Barack Obama. The words referred to Satan.
The first thing I found striking was an assertion that the Aramaic language was ancient Hebrew. I had never heard that before. While it is true that many people in Biblical times spoke the Aramaic language, I don’t believe most scholars consider it Hebrew. In my mind, that was the first clue that this discussion was clueless.
Beyond what is true or not true about President Obama, for whom I have little regard as a president, this is the kind of drivel that gives conservatives and Christians a bad name. I would hope that anyone who receives that piece of garbage would immediately delete it and send a word of admonishment to the sender, as I did. For goodness sake, do NOT pass it on to your friends.
In my opinion, the president has at this stage of his short tenure not distinguished himself as anything more than a spell binding orator. I suspect he will learn soon that it takes much more to be a president than the ability to make inspirational speeches. And just in case anyone think I am being crass, I have said the same thing about preachers. It takes more than a spell-binding sermon to make a good leader or a good pastor.
Having said that, we are all (by that I mean all conservatives) diminished by this constant harping on the president being a Muslim, or the president not being native born American or any one of a dozen other allegations, including this one referred to above.
Again, it is only my opinion, but all that stuff is unnecessary. Just leave him alone and he will self-destruct. His policies will be rejected by most Americans, because they are so far out of the mainstream of American political thinking.
Please, do not diminish the cause of Christ by making the president out to be the Anti-Christ. Reject that drivel. For goodness sakes, don’t pass it on.

Amen!
Jesus didn't come to give the Republican Party control of the White House, but a huge number of Christians are so obsessed with attacking Barack Obama that they're not doing anything else.
I've seen this video, and it made me furious! The convolution of language that had to be exercised to reach this was beyond absurd, but people buy it. (I know one in real life!)
